on the bedside table

2 Jan

I’m reading. I’m reading. Slowly. And it will only get slower come the 7th.

Right now, I’m on The Namesake and The Amber Spyglass.

Initial reactions…

The Namesake has really caught my interest… I’m only two chapters in, but it seems to be a displacement/bildungsroman sort of novel. Looking forward to more.

The Amber Spyglass… as always, it takes me some time to get into a Pullman novel. I started this series when I was 17, and I’m just now getting to the last book. In this one, Pullman added some evolutionary theory to the already complicated plot of Lyra and Will’s story. After so many years, I have a general idea of how the story ends, but I’d like to finally read it for myself.

I’ve read the Namesake. I loved it. I don’t know if you’ve read Lahiri’s other book a collection of short stories, Interpreter of Maladies. If you didn’t you should.
