Review request policies and such

This is a personal book blog. I write honest, personal reviews and reactions. Sometimes, I will delve into literary interpretations or fanciful ramblings.

I am willing to consider review requests,  but have limited time for solicited reviews. I will only accept review requests/offers if the book is a good fit for me and my blog. I receive no payment for my reviews and retain the right to review a book as I see fit. When I do accept a request, I try to post the review in a timely manner, but cannot provide a review-by date. I have no plans to allow guest posts or host author interviews at this time.

That said, I will ONLY consider the following for review:

Books with a strong female protagonist or a strong female presence in the following categories.

Genre fiction: Historical fiction (Victorian, Edwardian, Asian history, Early America through 19th cent), fantasy (high fantasy, urban fantasy, historical paranormal fantasy, alternative history and/or time travel).

YA fiction: Fantasy, Sci-fi, girl’s life, comedy diaries.

Literary fiction: Women’s fiction (especially comedic chick lit), fiction with multicultural themes.

If I turn down a review or do not reply to your request, it is because of the following reasons:

  • I don’t think I will enjoy the book. I’m a reader first.
  • Time constraints! If I don’t have the time to provide a proper review, I will not accept a book.

My personal selections are my top priority for the blog; however, I prioritize review books if they are:

  • Books I received through the LT Early Reviewers program.
  • Requests I responded to and accepted.
  • Books I requested through NetGalley or ARCs I requested from a publisher.

Unsolicited titles are at the mercy of my reading preferences. If I choose not to read a book that I received (but did not request or agree to review), the title will be donated to a public library or traded on a giveaway site such as LibraryThing.
